CORONA, Calif., – Worlds will collide when East meets West for the final round of the 2012 Monster Energy Supercross season at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium this Saturday, May 5. Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Broc Tickle, Dean Wilson, and Blake Baggett will put it all on the line for the finale of one of the most exciting seasons of Monster Energy Supercross to date.
One rider missing in action will be Darryn Durham, who sustained a shoulder injury earlier in the week. He has been evaluated by his physician, and it has been determined that he will not race in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Fellow Pro Circuit rider Tyla Rattray has continued his recovery from injuries sustained early in the season and will sit out the Las Vegas finale so he can focus on preparing for the upcoming 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.
Tickle is looking to finish his debut Supercross Class season on a high note. It took him some time to get used to the high level of competition at the outset of the season, but Tickle has since found his stride. He sits only five points out of ninth overall in the Supercross Class standings and is focused on not only capturing that position, but also finishing on the podium at the end of the night.
“I’m looking forward to Vegas,” said Tickle. “I rode well this past weekend and I’ve been making progress each week. I’m ready to get on the podium and get started with the outdoors.”
Wilson is heading to Vegas with plans to bounce back from his DNF in Salt Lake City. He is aiming for a win, and is excited to represent the West Region when he mixes it up with the boys from the East in the annual Lites Shootout.
“I’m hoping to get a win or two,” said Wilson. “Vegas is always fun, and I want to end the season well.”
Baggett enters the finale off a second-place finish at the previous Supercross Lites East Region round in New Orleans. He is hoping to end the night on top of the box in Las Vegas, and is also hoping for a successful finish in the shootout. Known for being a fierce motocross contender, Baggett is also looking forward to the start of the upcoming 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.
Morgantown, W.Va. (May 3, 2012) Budds Creek Motocross is one of the most prestigious racetracks on the national motocross tour in both ATV and motorcycle racing and the fastest ATV motocross racers in the country are set to compete in Mechanicsville, Maryland this weekend, May 5 and 6 for round three of the AMA ATV Motocross National Championship
Series. Chad Wienen currently tops the overall standings with a four-race win streak, but the rest of the field is close in tow, and for every race Wienen sweeps, theres sure to be even more intensity coming from his competitors.
The Wienen Motorsports/SSi Decals/Walsh Race Craft/Yamaha team continues to hold the coveted red number plate heading into round three this weekend and its right where they want to be this early in the game.
I cant thank my team enough for all their support this season and weve just been hard at work to be able to maintain the points lead here early on, said Wienen. Im pumped for Budds Creek this weekend, were ready to race!
Defending champion John Natalie now sits in second in the overall standings after just two rounds of racing. The Motoworks/Can-Am rider has been the closest of anyone to beating Wienen this year, as the two have battled back and fourth almost every moto this year. Natalie is known for his strong will and ability to excel in the roughest of conditions, so look for a steady run this weekend from the Ironman.
And then theres Baldwin Motorsports/PEP/Maxxis Josh Upperman, who is known for his incredible holeshots and ability to lead early on, but the first two rounds have been a struggle for Upperman to stay on pace of the leaders for the entire race. As last years runner-up, though, Upperman is one of the fastest riders out there and has proven hes able to withstand the competition.
Look no further than TBROWN Yamaha powered by Moto-X-Perts Thomas Brown and Motoworks/Can-Ams Joel Hetrick to provide excitement on the track as the duo is currently tied for fourth place in the point standings. Brown is coming off an injury and is expected to only get better as the year goes on, and Hetrick has run into some bad luck this year but the young gun has shown his speed as the consistent ATVRiders.com Fastest Qualifier recipient this season. Hetrick has won before, and its only a matter of time before he puts together an overall win.
The pro riders will run Saturday as part of a full schedule of amateur racing, including classes for Youth, Women and Veteran riders. Amateurs will practice on Friday and race on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets on Saturday are $20 for spectators ($10 for ages 6-11), and admission includes full pro-pit access and an autograph session.
To get to the track, take Maryland Highway 234 and the track is directly off Hwy 234. For more information, please visit www.atvmotocross.com.

MX Sports and Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park would like to invite all pro racers participating in the upcoming 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, to the complimentary Lake Elsinore Pro Ride Day at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park on Friday, May 11, 2012. The Lake Elsinore Main Track will be available exclusively to pro licensed racers for the purpose of using the circuit to test outdoor equipment and also to get a feel for the new Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park.
The Main Track will be reserved exclusively from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. for all current AMA Pro Motocross or AMA Supercross license holders. The Lake Elsinore Vet Track will remain open to the public during this time frame. The event will be preceded by a Racer X Advertisers’ Ride Day in the morning, ending at noon.
Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park will hold the final round of the 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship on September 8. It is the hope of MX Sports, as well as the Lake Elsinore management and track architect Marc Peters, of Petersbuilt Tracks, that this preview will help configure any final soil preparation, maintenance and layout changes that may be needed for the inaugural Lake Elsinore National in September. It is also the intent that the test will help athletes and teams prepare for the entire series on a secure course restricted to professional riders only.
Admission and registration are free to all professional riders and their race crews, compliments of MX Sports, Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park and Racer X Illustrated. Registration will start at 11 a.m. Riders will be required to show a current Motocross or Supercross pro license and valid ID in order to participate.
We hope you will join us for this special afternoon and take advantage of the unique opportunity to test your equipment on a national racetrack before the start of the series.
If you have any questions about the Lake Elsinore Pro Ride Day on Friday, May 11, 2012, please contact Jeff Canfield (jcanfield@mxsports.com).
See you there!
