Whew! Â That was a lot of Swiffer dusters right there! Â Welcome back to Woz Up! Â If you checked out the new website post right after the new redesign, you noticed that the weekly Woz Up write up is back for 2012! Â I didn’t write much or anything last year or even the year before. Â So, I figured I’d go at it and update you all each Friday on what’s going with me, MXPTV, and anything else going on!
So yeah, the new site design! Â What do you think of it? Â My goal was to be simple looking as possible. Â I even removed some ad space to lose some of that clutter (even though I have a ton by the way *sarcasm alert*) and to focus solely on the produced content. Â The site is also much faster than before which is always a plus. Â There will be little tweaks there and there but overall, this is the new look! Â Hope you enjoy or getting used to it. Â Feedback is always appreciated!
We’re fresh into the 2012 season with Anaheim 1 literally around the corner happening tomorrow night.  As any A1 event, I’m so excited to see what goes down at Angels Stadium!  You just can’t predict A1 ever these days.  Even the GOAT himself, Ricky Carmichael, is always a 50/50 shot at this race.  You just never know what’s going to happen and that might as well go for each supercross round this year.  With how the series went down last year, we were all going crazy on how unpredictable it is.  But I think its the coming back of the norm of racing back in the early 90s when it was 10 or so riders that were capable of winning.  The McGrath/Carmichael/Stewart phase all had us used to picking one top rider to look for but now in 2012, you just can’t do that anymore.  Stewart is on the same bike and a more organized team.  Dungey is back with Decoster but on a KTM.  Villopoto has the most momentum coming in out of any of  them and has the same exact program (except a team manager switch).  Canard is getting off the injured list slowly and is always a threat.  Chad Reed is more prepared than last year’s almost late arrival to the ball.  And how about Kevin (freakin’) Windham!  If he don’t win any mains, at least his “not friggin’ right” transfers will get all of the attention.  And that’s just the Supercross class.
The SX West Lites half of the series is looking as hot as always. Â Dean Wilson is fresh off a 250 outdoor title and is probably going faster than ever. Â Eli Tomac runner up’d last years series just losing by knobbies to Tickle (who’s all 450 now) in Vegas. Â Marvin Musquin looks to improve much better than his largely down with minor ups season in 2011. Â Tyla Rattray is always a question mark in supercross but he’s always all up there no matter if it’s a supercross triple or a Larocco’s Leap just ahead of his Scott goggles. Â Martin Davalos has had those famous flashes of brilliances each year. Â He comes in as the Kevin Windham of the class with the most years out of anyone lining up for the series. Â He needs some break through rides this season and look for that 450! Â Blake Baggett, once focused, is one to keep your eye really on. Â Ryan Sipes won a main or 2 in 2011. Â He’s a heavy favorite in the West, as well. Â And Darryn Durham is on his new PC ride. Â A win from him will shake up the western half of Pennsylvania for sure! Â This is just the tip of the iceberg. Â Anticipation, excitement, and the unexpected are what make our eyes get glued to the screen for 4+ hours for Anaheim 1.
And best of luck to another Pennsylvanian Ronnie Stewart, who will be racing for the Reed and Reese Racing team aboard a Suzuki RM-Z250F and competing in the West region series!
And will I be at Anaheim 1? Â Nope. Â Last time I was there was 2006 and it was a fun but crazy night for me then. Â I plan to hit only a couple of supercross rounds this year and try to pay more attention to the outdoors as I usually do. Â I just never get an opportunity to get involved with the supercross series (which is OK) but I love the outdoors way more. Â Just so exciting and way more fun to cover in my opinion.
You may notice that there have not been too many videos posted lately. Â Sorry for being on acid the past year week in and week out! Â I was on it all year long and with Christmas, my birthday, and New Year’s all in one week, it was a perfect time to sit back and relax for a bit. Â For the month of January, I plan on not filming as much just so I can recharge my batteries and plan up for 2012. Â I’ll shoot photos at times and there will always be content here at MXPTV from me, just not in video form too much in the next month. Â Maybe a helmet cam, crash video, or something small. Â Nothing major. Â I am, however, putting together a long but cool write up on my 2011 year that will be online very soon.
My video from the MX Day event on the island of St. Martin that I shot back in mid-December is all done and ready to roll out but not just yet. Â The video will be on the web this Sunday night coming up and will feature more of a road trip look of the week and how the invited riders spent their time on the island. Â From dodging airplanes at Maho Beach to taking out people in go-karts, it was an action packed week! Â So much stuff happened in that week that the video is around 8 minutes and doesn’t even include more than half of the video I wanted to fit in there as well! Â To solve this issue, I will be making a full event DVD of the event and break it down from each of the events that happened during the week and the MX Day race event on the weekend. Â I might be putting together a small preview of what’s to come sometime today as well. Â Don’t miss this video!
Since I already said I won’t be at Anaheim 1 Saturday, I’ll be visiting the Snake Creek MX facility in Harrington, Delaware to shoot photos for most of the day, which is expected to be a much warmer than normal day in January. Â So check me out there this Saturday!
That’ll wrap up this week’s Woz Up. Â Have fun and stay safe!
