Monday kicked off practice and the first batch of motos/qualifiers in the Supercross portion of the Winter National Olympics program. Â Practices started off wet due to the leftover morning showers from the day before and misty, foggy conditions this morning. Â The track was slick for the most part but as the sun peeked out of the clouds every now and then, the track turned up to be tacky and rutted up. Â The back rhythm section I mentioned about in yesterday’s report did not cause many wrecks like it did last year. Â Most of the wrecks today were in the whoop section as a nasty high whoop toward the end of the section is what’s biting the riders today. Â Practice completed around 1:30pm today and racing shortly followed after a brief intermission and the Red Bull skydivers landed on the front straightaway and other parts of the SX track. Â Racing kicked off with the 250 A/Pro-Am Stock class.

Ian Trettel pulled off two dominating wins in the 250 and Open A/Pro Am Stock classes.
In the 250 A/Pro Am Stock class, Honda rider Johnny Moore came off with the first holeshot of the week as Rockstar Energy/Suzuki/Fox rider Ian Trettel was closely behind. Â Trettel would get by Moore before they completed lap one after the whoop/double section in the middle of the track. Â Honda rider Gavin Faith, who also came off a great start, moved into 2nd behind Trettel. Â Moore would end up falling back more spots to Honda riders Lance Vincent and ELi Tomac. Â Vincent sat in 3rd but Tomac put the pressure on Vincent and got around him for 3rd. Â Trettel kept consistent all moto long to take the moto win. Â Gavin Faith was not too far behind in 2nd and Tomac rounded out the top 3. Â Vincent finished 4th and Kawasaki rider Cody Robbins rounded out the top 5.

Grant Ransdell won the 1st division of 250 B Stock on a Yamaha YZ250 two stroke.
250 B Stock saw 3 divisions go off and in division 1, Yamaha rider Grant Ransdell took the holeshot and the win with Kawasaki rider James Justice close behind at the checkers. Â Kawasaki rider Blake Dungey rode strong to pass a number of riders after a bad start to earn the 3rd place spot. Â Georgia’s Bogen Cochran was 4th and Texas’ Rusty Potter was 5th.

Suzuki rider Joey Savatgy holeshots division #2 of 250 B Stock.
Division 2 saw Joey Savatgy grab the holeshot and a huge lead until making a mistake in the whoops section that left him to not finish the moto. Â Honda rider Kyle Peters, who was sitting a solid 2nd, was now sitting solid in 1st and rode effortlessly to the checkers. Â Florida’s Kyle Goerke came under enormous pressure toward the end but finished out 2nd in front of Gerogia’s Anthony Rodrigues and Florida’s Justin Summers. Â Connecticut’s AJ Catanzaro rounded out the top 5.

Honda rider David Buller sets his eyes to the sky after getting the holeshot in Division #3 of 250 B Stock.
Division 3 saw an unusual “look to the sky” holeshot by Honda rider David Buller but quickly came under pressure by Kawasaki rider Justin Bogle and Honda rider Jessy Nelson made quick moves to get around Buller. Â Bogle and Nelson were close and Bogle edged out for the win. Â Nelson was 2nd. Â Buller finished out with a 3rd place ride. Â 4th went to KTM rider Jarrett Pesci and rounding out the top 5 was Minnesota’s Zack Williams.

KTM rider RJ Hampshire and Kawasaki rider Nick Gaines lead the 1st division of Supermini 1 through the 1st turn.
Supermini 1 (12-15) was the 3rd class to go today and the 2nd one running with 3 divisions. Â In division 1, KTM rider RJ Hampshire took the holeshot but Kawasaki rider Nick Gaines and Yamaha rider Cody Chisholm made it around Hampshire. Â Gaines took the win with Chisholm holding down 2nd. Â Hampshire was 3rd, Pennsylvania’s Jarek Balkovic was 4th, and Indiana’s Dakota Robins was 5th.

Kawasaki rider Adam Cianciarulo leaves the field in a hurry to win Division 2 of Supermini 1.
Division 2 was the AC show with Kawasaki’s top mini rider Adam Cianciarulo winning the race from gate to checkers. Â A hard charging Aaron Plessinger tried to match Cianciarulo’s pace but settled for 2nd. Â Suzuki’s Jace Owen “cracked” out a 3rd place ride. Â 4th went to Vermont’s Dakota Alix and 5th went to KTM rider Daniel Baker.

Cooper Webb came from behind to win Division 3 of Supermini 1.
Division 3 saw Kentucky’s Jacob Baumert grab a huge holeshot and lead the first few laps until a hard charging Cooper Webb on his Honda CRF150 made it past a bunch of riders and got around Baumert.  Webb took the win with Baumert in 2nd.  KTM rider Colton Ford looked strong all moto long in 2nd before getting passed  by Webb and settled for 3rd.  4th went to Suzuki’s Jordon Smith and 5th place went to Kawasaki rider Thomas Covington after a really bad start.
